  • Finca Medina, Guatemala

Finca Medina is a coffee farm located on the outskirts of Antigua City in Guatemala. It was founded in 1842 and spans 100 hectares in the foothills of the Agua volcano. The farm combines modern technology with traditional techniques to produce high-quality coffee, and each batch is carefully evaluated in the laboratory to ensure traceability and quality.

  • The farm has a state-of-the-art water treatment plant that processes water from the wet part of the coffee production process. The plant has a primary stage with anaerobic, facultative, and wastewater ponds and is coated with a plastic membrane to prevent water from filtering into the groundwater layer in the subsoil. The farm aims to be a pioneer in water cleaning in the coffee industry and hopes to achieve the most stringent standards for water cleanliness.

  • The coffee pulp is used to create organic compost, which is made by mixing the pulp with 30% of the water from the wet stage of the coffee process and turning it in a special compost machine. The compost is then enriched with wood, leaves, and other natural products from the farm's activities, and once it is ready, it is applied as organic fertilizer to the coffee trees. The use of these byproducts helps the farm recycle and reuse waste products in an environmentally friendly way, completing the cycle of coffee production.

Transparency is at the heart of what we do, it's one of our core tenants. We don't rename our coffees out of respect for the producers who've put so much work into it already and we believe in being open about our pricing and what we pay because we believe it's important to create that connection - coffee doesn't come from a vacuum, there is a person behind it and they're just as deserving of a fair deal as anyone else.

Not sure if this is the right coffee for you?
